Sir Frederick Leighton was a British Victorian painter and sculpture. His paintings were enormously popular and expensive during his lifetime, most notably his painting "Flaming June" which hangs in the Met. Leighton was the bearer of the shortest-lived peerage in history; after one day, his hereditary peerage became extinct upon his death.
